• Diagnostic interviews
Before your interview, I will ask you to fill out several forms. These include the basic patient information form I have on my website as well as several other forms to assess your symptoms. The diagnostic interview will then typically last from sixty to ninety minutes. I will listen as you describe what brings you in and ask follow up questions in order to make a diagnosis using the DSM-IV TR. At the end of the interview I will discuss my diagnosis with you. If you wish to be my patient, we will discuss a personalized treatment plan and go over the policies and procedures of my practice. Your treatment plan may include medications, laboratory testing, and/or psychotherapy. If you are already working with a therapist or wish to see someone else for psychotherapy we will arrange so your therapist and I will work together to provide you the best care possible.


• Individual psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a well-studied and proven treatment for many psychiatric conditions. Meetings are usually weekly. An individual psychotherapy session with me lasts 50 minutes.


• Brief individual counseling
Sometimes people are interested in speaking with an unbiased and confidential counselor about a particular problem or situation. This counseling can last from only a few sessions up to as long as it is helpful.


• Pharmacological treatment
As a psychiatrist, I can prescribe medications as necessary to help with psychiatric conditions. Before receiving a prescription from me, my patients always have a chance to discuss the potential risks, potential benefits, and alternatives to the medication I might recommend. My patients are educated about side effects and monitored closely. I prescribe medications based on the best unbiased evidence in the medical literature.


• Substance abuse treatment
I am available to help patients struggling with substance abuse and addictive behaviors. Many patients are unaware that there are medications available that might help them stop using substances and change their behaviors. I often collaborate with my colleagues at Changes by Choice to provide patients the best chance possible to reclaim control over their lives.
